Steps To Clean Your Makeup

1. Use a gentle, slightly diluted cream on a ball of cotton wool to clean up the entire face. This will take care of the foundation and powder.
2. Remove the lipstick next. Once the overall clean up has been done, begin on the lipstick. Usually, Vaseline will get off the toughest waterproof lipstick. Rub some on your lips and wipe off with a tissue.
3. Continue with the eyes. These are gentle areas and Clinique eye makeup remover would be the best solution. These are all just preliminaries to get off the separate areas of makeup.
4. Take off all the lotions and makeup removers that you have just used. Use a gentle foaming soap to wash your face and unclog the pores.
5. Pat your face dry and put on a light night lotion to combat skin dryness that can occur from the rigorous removal of the makeup and all the chemicals used on the skin.


* If you don’t have eye makeup remover, baby oil on a cotton ball works really well (just make sure to rinse the oil off afterwards to prevent break-outs)
* Always use a noncomedogenic moisturizer. They don’t clog pores.
* You may also use the HydraMitt which is a microfiber mitt that removes makeup in seconds by using warm water only. It’s also very gentle on your eyes and will not scratch your skin like your typical microfiber cloth.


* Do not start by washing your face, this dries out the skin and does not get off most of the makeup.
* Do Not over exfoliate the skin or use abrasive products. These can damage the skin and leave it looking dull and wrinkled.

Hyundai unveiled its all-new 2005 Tucson SUV on February 4, 2004 during media days at the 96th annual Chicago Auto Show. The name Tucson continues the tradition of Southwestern themed titles for Hyundai’s sports utility vehicles, and goes on sale in the fall of 2004. Standard engine is a 2.0-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine, with an optional 2.7-liter DOHC V6 available in the US market. Tucson will be offered in both front-wheel-drive or all-wheel drive configurations; is Hyundai’s first entry into the small SUV segment and is smaller than the hot-selling Santa Fe SUV.

Chicago, February 4, 2004 ... Continuing to expand its model line in the United States, Hyundai today introduced the Tucson sport utility vehicle at the Chicago Auto Show. The vehicle is the company’s first entry into the small SUV segment. The Tucson is smaller than Hyundai’s hot-selling Santa Fe SUV and will go on sale late this summer in the United States.

"The new Hyundai Tucson is a value-packed SUV that will complement the buyers' active lifestyles," said Hyundai Motor America President and CEO Robert F. Cosmai. "Tucson has all the features buyers have come to expect from Hyundai and it’s covered by America’s Best Warranty, The Hyundai Advantage, which includes the 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty."

The four-door Tucson is the second Hyundai sport utility vehicle to be named after a city in the southwestern U.S.

Tucson styling provides a masculine, athletic appearance and delivers lots of utility. As Hyundai’s newest SUV, the Tucson is designed to be a versatile companion to the buyer’s lifestyle and to provide the best value in the marketplace in equipment, style, image and value.

The Tucson features a spacious, well-configured interior that provides lots of room and comfort for the driver and passengers and all their cargo. The Tucson also provides a large, versatile and durable cargo area with fold-flat rear seats and folding front passenger seat. The seat can be folded forward to provide extra storage room or a workspace for the driver. It can also be fully reclined as a seat. The rear mat is removable and exposes a durable, easy-to-clean plastic floor with multiple tie-down locations for everyone’s gear.

Since January 2003, all Hyundai vehicles manufactured for sale in the U.S. are fitted with side-impact airbags as standard equipment. The Tucson carries on this tradition of safety. The Tucson is equipped with a total of six airbags; driver and passenger front airbags, driver and passenger side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags for both front and rear seat occupants.

Tucson buyers can select from two engines. The base model GL features Hyundai’s proven 2.0-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine fitted with Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) matched to a 5-speed manual transmission or available Shiftronic automatic transmission. Hyundai’s 2.7-liter DOHC V6 is standard on the GLS and LX models and it is matched to the Shiftronic automatic transmission. The 2.7-liter V6 as used in the Tucson is fitted with a variable length, tuned intake system for smoother delivery of power across the entire rev band. Four-wheel-drive is available with either engine.

Tucson uses the state-of-the-art Borg-Warner Electronic InterActive Torque Management four-wheel-drive system that routes up to 99 percent of the available power to the front wheels. As road conditions or torque demand changes, the system automatically diverts up to 50 percent of the available power to the rear wheels. The system monitors throttle position, front wheel angle and slippage.

As surface conditions change, power is automatically routed to the wheels with the best traction. There is also a dashboard-mounted 4WD lock button that allows the driver to manually "lock" the driveline into 4WD for a 50/50 torque split.

Standard features on the Tucson include: four-wheel disc brakes, 16-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, seat-mounted side-impact airbags for the driver and front seat passenger, side-impact protection (side curtain airbags) for the front seat and rear-seat passengers and remote keyless entry alarm system. Additional standard features include: heated outside rear view mirrors, front windshield de-icer (V6 only), tinted glass, roof rack side rails, rear intermittent wiper, tire pressure warning system (V6 only), AM/FM/CD stereo system with six speakers and more.

Available features include leather seating surfaces, anti-lock brakes and ABS with traction control. A power sunroof with tilt is also available along with front-seat warmers, fog lamps, remote keyless entry with alarm, AM/FM/Cassette/MP3 with six speakers (standard on GLS), AM/FM/Cassette/CDC with six speakers and woofer (standard on LX), roof rack cross rails and rear privacy glass.

The new Hyundai Tucson is designed to compete with the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Mitsubishi Outlander. It is expected to be on sale later in 2004 as a 2005 model.

A Look Back — Hyundai’s Entry into the U.S. Market
The timing of Hyundai’s entry into the U.S. market in 1986 was ideal. At that time, most automobile manufacturers had abandoned the entry-level market in favor of high-end, high-priced vehicles and that left a large void. First-time car buyers such as college students and young families were not able to find adequate, value-equipped cars that met their needs yet were priced within their economic means.

In February 1986, Hyundai launched its subcompact Excel model in the U.S. market. Customer response was immediate; in just seven months, Hyundai Motor America had sold its 100,000th Excel. Total 1986 sales numbered 168,882 — an industry record for an import car distributor in its first year.

Hyundai sales averaged 1,431 units per dealer, another sales record. In 1987, Hyundai sales continued to soar reaching a record 263,610 units.

What makes this sales performance all the more remarkable is that it was done with dealers in only 31 of the 50 states. In the early years, Hyundai concentrated its sales efforts primarily on the West and East Coasts, and in the southern states. In 1987, Hyundai expanded into the central portion of the United States, opening a central region office near Chicago. Today, there are four regions and more than 625 Hyundai dealerships nationwide.

Expanding the Product Line
Hyundai took a major step to becoming a full-line automotive importer/distributor in 1989 with the introduction of its midsize sedan, the Sonata. This roomy, powerful, front-wheel-drive sedan expanded Hyundai’s appeal to more mature, family-oriented buyers. It also offered current Excel owners an opportunity to move up within the Hyundai product line.

In 1995, the Sonata was completely redesigned. It incorporated state-of-the-art technology that moved it up the scale in the midsize sedan segment. In 1999, the third-generation Sonata was introduced with the company’s first all-aluminum V6 engine, double wishbone front suspension and standard equipment side-impact air bags. For 2002, the Sonata was revised with new exterior styling and a 2.7-liter DOHC V6 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic manual shift control.

Hyundai’s third entry into the U.S. market was the sporty Scoupe, introduced in the summer of 1990 as a 1991 model. The Scoupe featured the Alpha engine — the first powerplant designed, engineered and manufactured exclusively by Hyundai. With its 2 + 2 configuration and bright array of colors, the Scoupe added a youthful, exciting touch to the Hyundai product line. The last model year for the Scoupe was 1995.

In 1995, after 10 years in the U.S. market, the Excel was replaced by the all-new subcompact Accent. With the Accent, Hyundai offered customers high-tech sophistication and features but an entry-level price.

For model year 2000, the Accent was redesigned to offer buyers even more value and quality. For 2001 Accent GS and GL models were upgraded to the powerful 1.6-liter dual overhead cam four-cylinder engine. In 2002 the GS and GL models were fitted with air conditioning as standard equipment.

For the 2003 model year, the Accent was extensively revised with new front fenders, hood, bumper, fascia and headlamp assemblies. The rear deck, tail lamps and bumper were also revised. The GT package, with revised sport suspension and a 14-inch wheel and tire package, was reintroduced in 2003. The sophisticated 1.6-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine is now standard equipment in all Accent models.

Since January, 2003 every Accent built for sale in the U.S. is equipped with driver and front passenger side-impact airbags as standard equipment.

For 2004, the exciting Hyundai Accent receives only minor changes — the Accent GT 3-door became a model instead of a trim package — and continues to be the value leader in the entry-level class.

The compact Elantra sedan debuted in 1991 as a 1992 model. It quickly became Hyundai’s best-selling model in the U.S. Elantra was redesigned in the 1997 model year and a station wagon version was introduced. Elantra captured the Hyundai sales record in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. For the 2001 model year, Hyundai introduced the all-new third-generation Elantra with a longer wheelbase, a roomier cabin and even more refinements.

Side-impact air bags were also made standard on 2001 Elantra models, making them the first cars in their segment to offer side-impact airbags as standard equipment.

For 2002, there were two Elantra models offered — the Elantra GLS 4-door sedan and the new sporty Elantra GT 5-door hatchback. In 2003, the new Elantra GT 4-door joined the lineup.

There are extensive changes for 2004, including both exterior and interior styling and a significant engine enhancements. The hood, grill, front bumper, headlamp assembly, rear bumper and tail lamp assembly are all new for 2004. Interior upgrades include a new instrument cluster, new vents and controls, new center console, new HVAC controls and more.

In addition, for 2004, the 2.0-liter DOHC engine is fitted with Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) and is available in SULEV and ULEV configuration, depending on the states in which it is sold. The Elantra GT models feature a long list of standard equipment that includes sport-tuned suspension, alloy wheels, leather seating surfaces, front air dam with foglamps and handsome rear spoilers.

In 1997 Hyundai replaced the Scoupe with the exciting Tiburon sporty coupe. Based on the HCD-I and HCD-II concept cars, Tiburon combined sleek, eye-catching styling with outstanding performance and handling.

The Tiburon’s performance lives up to its sporty styling. Competing in the tough Michelin SCCA Pro Rally series, a specially prepared Hyundai Tiburon, driven by Paul Choiniere and Mark Higgins (who joined the team for the 2002 season), won the Manufacturer’s Championship in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and again in 2002. In 1997, Choiniere captured the Driver’s Championship and he also piloted the Tiburon on its winning run up Pike’s Peak in the annual Pike’s Peak Open “Race to the Clouds.”

The Tiburon was extensively revised in 2000 with revamped front, rear and interior styling. There was no 2002 model Tiburon. The 2001 model was sold until the spring of 2002 when it was replaced by the exciting all-new 2003 Tiburon. The new Tiburon GTV6 model offered some exciting new features — a V6 engine, 6-speed manual transmission and a high-performance 17-inch wheel and tire package. For 2004, the Tiburon received only minor interior trim changes and simplified packaging.

Two New Vehicles
In the fall of 2000, Hyundai Motor America added two new vehicles to its lineup: the Santa Fe sport utility vehicle and the XG300 sedan. The Santa Fe is a car-based crossover vehicle that provides car-like ride and handling with the seating position and utility of a sport utility vehicle.

The Santa Fe was an instant hit with consumers and for the first time in many years Hyundai dealers were taking orders and putting customer’s names on waiting lists. For 2002, the Santa Fe received minor refinements and upgrades.

In mid-2002, the Santa Fe was again upgraded with a revised center stack design with relocated clock, larger air conditioning vents and a power sliding moonroof option.

For 2003, driver and passenger side-impact airbags were added as standard equipment on the Santa Fe. Then, near the end of the 2003 model year, the Santa Fe 3.5-liter was introduced with the 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine, 5-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic manual shift control and an available electronic 4WD system from Borg-Warner. For 2004, there are only minimal changes and upgrades to the Hyundai Santa Fe.

The XG300 was a hit as well, selling well above the projected numbers. For 2002, the engine displacement of the XG300 moved from 3.0 liters up to 3.5 liters, resulting in the name change from XG300 to XG350. For 2003, changes to the XG350 included a new instrument panel design and new trip computer display. The 2004 XG was extensively revised and went on sale in July of 2003. Both front and rear styling was changed for 2004 and the front disc brake rotor diameter was increased as well. The XG350L now features a new 12-spoke design alloy road wheel and all XG350 models are fitted with a full-size spare tire mounted on matching alloy wheel. There are also many interior enhancements for the 2004 Hyundai XG350 to make it even more luxurious.

Hyundai unveiled the 2005 Tucson sport utility vehicle at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2004. The Tucson is a car-based SUV that is smaller than the Hyundai Santa Fe SUV.

Tucson is available in three trim levels: GL, GLS and LX, and in two configurations: front-wheel-drive and 4WD. There are two engines available — the proven 2.0-liter DOHC 4-cylinder fitted with Continously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) and the 2.7-liter DOHC V6. The 4-cylinder engine can be matched to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed Shiftronic automatic transmission. The V6 is matched to the 4-speed Shiftronic automatic transmission. 4WD is available with either engine selection.

4WD Tucson models are fitted with a sophisticated Borg-Warner electronic all-wheel-drive system that automatically engages the rear wheels when necessary. When the electronic sensing components determine the need for 4WD, it is engaged automatically. There is also a dashboard-mounted 4WD lock button that allows the driver to manually “lock” the driveline in 4WD for a 50/50 torque split.

As the presence of Hyundai automobiles and Hyundai Motor America continued to grow in America, the company began to expand its operations and service networks nationwide to more effectively serve the needs of dealers and customers. In 1988, HMA opened a $21 million, 300,000 square-foot parts distribution center in Ontario, Calif., to facilitate parts deliveries to Hyundai’s expanding dealer body. The next year, HMA opened a $16.6 million, 342,000 square-foot office complex and parts distribution center in Aurora, Ill.

Today, Hyundai also has regional offices in Jamesburg, N.J., Austell, Ga., and Aurora, Ill. In addition, the New Jersey facility also incorporates a parts distribution center.

In 1990, Hyundai Motor America moved its national headquarters from Garden Grove, Calif., to a new 18-acre site in nearby Fountain Valley, Calif. — an investment of $18 million. In addition to corporate offices, this facility also houses HMA’s Western regional office, the National Service Center and the National Headquarters of Hyundai Motor Finance Company.

HMFC, launched in 1990 with a capital investment of $15 million and 22 employees, now employs nearly 200 people and has accumulated a portfolio of nearly $500 million. Hyundai Motor Finance Co. serves Hyundai dealers nationwide with individual customer financing and dealer inventory financing.

Also in 1990, HMA opened a $12.2 million port facility in Portland, Ore. It features a large dock area, a 45,000 square-foot processing building, a holding lot for incoming cars and an area for rail car and vehicle transport. Other Hyundai port facilities are located in Wilmington, Calif., Brunswick, Ga., Newark, N.J., Baltimore, Md., and Fort Worth, Texas.

A new corporation called HK Logistics America (HKLA), formed in March 2003, is now responsible for all vehicle logistics management for Hyundai Motor America and Kia Motors America in the U.S. HKLA is headquartered in Costa Mesa, Calif., and has 11 port operations (nine water ports and two inland processing centers) located in eight U.S. states.

In April of 2002, Hyundai broke ground in Montgomery, Ala., for its first U.S. automobile assembly plant, a $1 billion investment scheduled to open in 2005 and employ nearly 2,000 people. When running at full capacity, the plant is expected to assemble 300,000 vehicles per year.

The first two vehicles scheduled to be produced in the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) assembly plant are the revised Sonata and Santa Fe models.

In addition, the new $25 million Hyundai/Kia Design and Technical Center in Irvine, Calif., opened in early 2003. Also in early 2003, a ceremonial groundbreaking event was held for the new Hyundai/Kia Proving Ground in the California desert near Edwards Air Force Base. This facility is scheduled to be constructed in the next two years.

After 18 years in the U.S. automobile market, Hyundai continues to reinforce its commitment to sell innovative, high-quality vehicles at the most affordable prices.

The 2011 Impreza WRX STI models arrive in Subaru dealerships late this summer.

All-New 4-Door Wide Body Design for 2011
The new WRX STI 4-door design is based on a 'wide and low' concept that gives the car an aggressive road presence. Like the wide-body design already used for the 5-door WRX STI, the new 4-door WRX STI features widened front and rear track dimensions and wider, more pronounced front fenders and rear quarter panels. The design maintains a consistent flow from front to rear bumper, creating a distinctive identity and a sense of stability.

In front, the 2011 WRX STI models feature sharpened bumper corners and wider, blacked-out fog lamp nacelles to accentuate the 'wide and low' profile. A jutting lip spoiler with three-dimensional detailing emphasizes the cars' sporty intent. The newly designed front grille with a black grille inset and blacked-out Subaru floating wing also signify the 2011 model and set off the headlights' shape to give the entire front end a more powerful appearance.

For the WRX STI 4-door sedan model, newly designed wider rear fenders are stretched out on the side more than the tail lamps, and this accentuates a look of stability. A striking larger rear spoiler was exclusively designed for the STI 4-door. The new design details contribute to an improved drag coefficient, and the rear spoiler design contributes to stable high-speed handling and achievement of zero lift. The WRX STI 4-door features its own version of the polished stainless steel quad-tailpipe exhaust, with tailpipe diameter enlarged to three inches.

New WRX STI Chassis Tuning for 2011
The Subaru WRX STI was already a highly optimized performance machine. Changes in chassis tuning for 2011 reflect both owner / enthusiast feedback and the brand's commitment to keeping this model at the peak of the segment's performance offerings. The fundamentals remain the same as before, but specific tuning – previewed by the 2010 WRX STI Special Edition – results in reduced body roll, more neutral handling response and higher lateral-G capability.

The basics: The WRX STI delivers ultra-crisp handling along with everyday ride compliance. High-tensile-strength steel is used at key structural points and the suspension-mounting areas. Inverted struts used for the front suspension provide high bending resistance for quicker and more consistent performance under hard cornering. Aluminum front lower L-arms reduce unsprung vehicle weight.


Major changes to suspension tuning for the 2011 WRX STI include a lowered ride height and new pillow-ball bushings in front and stiffer bushings for the rear subframe that supports the double-wishbone suspension – these improve camber and toe stiffness. Both the front and rear suspension systems employ higher-rate springs and thicker front and rear stabilizer bars than the 2010 model: 21 mm vs. 20 mm in front and 19 mm vs. 18 mm in rear. (The 2010 WRX STI Special Edition already had the thicker rear stabilizer.) Spring rates have increased by 15.6 percent in front and 53 percent in the rear. (Rear spring rate for the 2011 WRX STI is 18-percent over the already-higher rate rear springs introduced in 2010 WRX STI Special Edition).

New standard 18-inch aluminum wheels feature high-luster paint and weigh 17.6 lbs less than the previous standard wheels. The optional 18 x 8.5 in. BBS® forged aluminum-alloy wheels are highlighted by silver high-luster paint for 2011. These wheels further reduce unsprung vehicle weight. Dunlop SP600 245/40R18 summer performance tires are used with the standard and optional wheels.

Performance Evolution
The 2011 WRX STI continues as the ultimate-performance Subaru with its high-boost 305-hp turbocharged/intercooled Boxer engine teamed with a 6-speed manual transmission and the exclusive Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) version of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.

The WRX STI is equipped with advanced dynamic control systems, including Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) and Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system, which features a track performance-optimized mode. Incline Start Assist, featured on all Impreza models equipped with a manual transmission, can momentarily prevent the vehicle from rolling backward when being driven away from a stop on an incline.

SI-DRIVE Gives WRX STI Driver More Control
Exclusive to the WRX STI models, Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) technology allows the driver to tailor the car's driving characteristics by choosing from among three selectable modes – 'Intelligent,' 'Sport' and 'Sport Sharp' – using a rotary dial on the center console. SI-DRIVE alters vehicle performance characteristics by regulating the Engine Control Module (ECM) and
by fine-tuning the Electronic Throttle Control system.

With Intelligent mode selected, SI-DRIVE provides a more relaxed throttle response curve, making it useful for commuting in traffic, for example.

'Sport' mode provides quick throttle responses and powerful, linear acceleration, making it ideal for everyday sporty driving. In 'Sport Sharp' mode, SI-DRIVE modifies the engine's electronic throttle mapping to deliver super-quick throttle response and put down the power sooner.

Multi-Mode DCCD All-Wheel Drive with Three-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control
As before, the 2011 WRX STI is exclusively equipped with the Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) version of Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The system employs planetary-type differential gears with a nominal 41:59 torque split. A mechanical limited-slip type center differential augments an electronically controlled center differential to enhance torque transfer performance. A steering sensor input enhances torque transfer response by accurately relaying the car's cornering situation. A helical-type limited-slip front differential and a TORSEN® torque-sensing limited-slip rear differential optimize side-to-side power distribution, helping to prevent the inside wheels from slipping during cornering.

The DCCD AWD system features three automatic modes. 'Auto' mode provides the best all-around performance for most drivers and circumstances, varying the front/rear torque distribution automatically via the limited-slip type differential in response to vehicle acceleration, deceleration, steering angle, cornering force and wheel slippage. The 'Auto (-)' mode makes less use of the center limited-slip differential (less locking factor) and holds the torque bias to the rear more frequently, which yields more handling-oriented steering characteristics. For driving on slippery surfaces, such as gravel or snow, the Auto (+) setting tightens the LSD. In manual mode, DCCD offers six levels of center differential locking, allowing the driver to vary the front-to-rear torque distribution (up to 50:50 maximum) to optimize AWD performance for varying driving conditions.

The Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) stability and traction control system is standard on all Subaru models for 2010. It is important to note that, in Subaru vehicles, traction control plays a second line of defense against wheel slip after AWD torque distribution. In contrast, some All-Wheel Drive systems on the market lack the performance advantage of a locking center differential and rely solely on traction control to redistribute torque away from slipping wheels.

Exclusive to the WRX STI, the Multi-Mode VDC system offers the driver three settings: 'VDC Normal,' 'Traction' and 'Off.' The 'Normal' setting provides the highest level of system engagement, utilizing traction control (TCS) and VDC. The 'Traction' setting is more performance-oriented, employing less-restrictive VDC and disengaging the engine torque-reduction control. The 'Off' setting disengages the VDC and the traction control functions.

Also exclusive to the WRX STI, the Brembo Performance Brake System uses ventilated 4-wheel Super Sport anti-lock (ABS) disc brakes with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). Front discs measure 13.0 inches in diameter and use 4-piston, fixed-position calipers; the 12.6 in. rear discs use 2-piston, fixed-position calipers. Taking input from a lateral g-sensor, a steering angle sensor, a yaw sensor and a brake pressure sensor, Super Sport ABS can control the braking forces at each rear wheel independently, which optimizes braking ability during hard cornering to help reduce understeer. In contrast, conventional ABS systems control the rear wheels as a pair, reducing the braking force to both rear wheels equally.

Sporty, Spacious and Versatile Interior
New for 2011, the WRX STI interior is finished in black and silver to highlight its sporty design. The color of each metallic part was unified to dark metallic and sharp silver. Trim panels, steering wheel air bag cover and steering wheel switches are now dark cast metallic.

The standard tilt and telescopic steering wheel is a three-spoke, leather-wrapped design embossed with the STI logo in its center. The wheel features control switches for Bluetooth® hands-free phone function. The WRX STI models are equipped with standard aluminum-alloy pedal covers and driver's footrest. Performance-design front seats integrate the backrest and head restraint into a single structure. The instrument panel electroluminescent gauges use indicator needles that sweep the gauge faces upon engine startup.

The compact layout of the double-wishbone rear suspension helps to minimize intrusion into the cargo area, providing a wide and deep luggage compartment. In the 5-door models, the wide and flat load floor can accommodate two Tour-size golf bags with the rear seat backs in the upright position. In the 4-door sedan model, which is 6.5-inches longer than the 5-door, the extra space provides for a larger, deeper trunk that can accommodate three Tour-size golf bags. A 60/40-split folding rear seat further boosts cargo capacity and convenience, and the 4-Door also features a rear seat fold-down center armrest.

Standard amenities that help make the WRX STI an excellent everyday driver include an automatic climate control system with cabin air filtration and an AM/FM stereo with single-disc CD player that features Bluetooth audio streaming and hands-free calling, iPod control capability, a USB port, 3.5mm aux. input jack and XM/SIRIUS satellite radio capability. A vehicle security system with engine immobilizer is standard, as well. The optional navigation system integrates a vehicle information center and Bluetooth® hands-free calling. In addition to an input for MP3 players, the center console also includes video jacks that can accommodate portable gaming devices. These can be displayed on the navigation screen when the vehicle is parked. All WRX STI models come pre-wired for XM® or SIRIUS® Satellite Radio.

Subaru Safety
Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) provides precise control of braking pressure between the front and rear wheels based on the vehicle load to improve stability and stopping distances. Brake Assist analyzes the force and stroke on the brake pedal and increases hydraulic boost to provide enhanced emergency braking, also activating the ABS system early if needed.

All Impreza models utilize the proven Subaru Ring-Shaped Reinforcement Frame body structure with front and rear crumple zones, and all feature standard side-curtain airbags. The Subaru Advanced Frontal Airbag System (SRS) features front seat side impact air bags. In the passenger side front seat, a sensor module detects weight – first determining if the seat is occupied, and if so by a child or adult – to control air bag deployment. There are 3-point seatbelts for all seating positions, including front height-adjustable seatbelts with electrically triggered pre-tensioners and force limiters.

Subaru introduced its Impreza Compact Car in 1993 and has since become a pinnacle of performance. The name 'Impreza' was derived from an Italian word 'impresa', meaning a feat or achievement. In Polish, the name 'Impreza' means to 'party', an 'event' or 'show'. In either language, the name is suitable.

When the Impreza was first introduced in November of 1993, it was available in either front wheel drive or all wheel drive configuration. Two bodystyles were offered, a four-door sedan or five-door station wagon. The two-door coupe followed a few years later, in 1995. Trim levels included the LX, GL, and Sport. Adding to the vehicles versatility, the Impreza was offered with a variety of engines, including a 1.6, 1.8, and 2.0-liter engine. To boost performance further, a turbocharger and intercooler was available on the 2-liter engine. Horsepower for the forced-induction engine was an impressive 208. In the Japanese market, the output was even higher.

Subaru Tecnica International (STi) was formed in 1988; their purpose was to specialize in the preparation of vehicles for rallies. In 1994, they were given the opportunity to create a version of the Impreza to bear the 'STi' nameplate. When introduced, it was only available in the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) and European Domestic Market (EDM). These versions featured performance-tuned engines, transmission, and suspensions. Horsepower was raised above the normal WRX models, and could carry the vehicles from zero-to-sixty in just 4.9 seconds. Top speed was electronically limited at 122 mph. The European market had a slightly de-tuned version of the engine, though performance was still impressive. Additional steps were taken to prepare the vehicles for rally competition. The soundproofing material was reduced, the air conditioning removed, and void of many non-essential amenities. The overall weight of the vehicle was reduced significantly.

The Impreza received cosmetic changes in 1997 and the interior was redesigned in the following year. The design-inspiration for the interior was borrowed from the Forester.

Special edition Impreza's have been introduced throughout its production lifespan. These limited edition models are often tuned for greater performance or given unique cosmetic changes. The purpose is often to commemorate a racing success or to honor a racing legend. Editions include the Series McRae, 555, Catalunya, Terzo, RB5, P1, and 22B. A limited edition version of the Impreza Wagon was even offered for a short time, dubbed the CasaBlanca.

The European market received a performance upgraded version of the Impreza in 1999 which featured an improved turbocharger and 4-pot calibers with larger disc brakes. The suspension was improved and the seating became more racer-oriented with bucket seats similar to the STi version.

While the rest of the world was offered the turbocharger version of the Impreza, the North American market was left to sit on the side-lines. The turbocharger would not come across 'the pond' during the first generation of the Impreza. The Impreza was offered with the 1.8-liter engine with either front- or all-wheel drive. A 2.2-liter version of the engine became available in 1995. The FWD was later droped and all Subaru's became all-wheel drive as standard.

Subaru was unsure of the performance market in North America, and thus, offered only basic engines. In 1998, the year the 1.8-liter engine was no longer available, Subaru decided to explore the possibilities of performance in the US. They offered a performance model dubbed the Impreza 2.5RS. The 2.5-liter DOHC naturally-aspirated engine produced 165 horsepower and had performance upgrades throughout the vehicle, including larger brakes and 16-inch five-spoke gold-colored wheels. Hood vents, rear spoiler, and a hood scoop helped segregate the styling from this 'special' model and its non-tuned sibling.

In 2001, Subaru introduced a larger, more refined and improved, Impreza. For some, the changes were a step in the wrong direction, as the car grew in size and weight. It was tamer beast for the typical day-to-day driving conditions and the extra size meant it was more versatile. Also, the coupe model was no longer offered.

The WRX version, for the United States, with its 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that cranked out nearly 230 horsepower became available the following year, in 2002. The US had to wait a long time to get the STi version, which did not enter into production for the States until 2004. To comply with safety and emission control laws in the United States, it was not the same thoroughbred racer as in other parts of the world. Still, it was a very impressive machine. In other markets, the STi was equipped with a twin-scroll turbocharger 2.0-liter engine. In the US, the STi was powered by a 2.5-liter EJ25 engine mated with a turbocharger.

In 2003, the Impreza was given a facelift, mainly due to the negative reaction by some media outlets. One of the more noticeable changes were to the headlamps, which became more square. Another redesign occurred in 2006 on all Impreza's, featuring changes to its headlights, taillights, and bumpers - among other changes.

The Third generation of the Impreza was introduced to the world at the 2007 New York Auto Show, ready for sale in 2008. It will be available as a four-door sedan and five-door hatchback.
