Why You Gain Weight Despite Efforts to Lose It

Any exercise routine, when done properly, will surely yield good results. It may take a while before you see the effects, and with the proper nutrition plan, losing weight will be a breeze. However, if you prefer to eat lots of food without counting the amount of calories, then, shedding off your excess poundage will really be very hard for you.

There are many causes of weight gain that are attributable other than to diet. One is the fitness program you follow, the calories you put in your body, and lastly, a health condition.

Walking briskly is a good way to lose your excess poundage. If you walk at least thirty minutes daily (5 days a week), you’ll see results in less than a month. You would have lost a couple enough pounds to say that the exercise is effective. On the other hand, if you walk leisurely instead of briskly, your half-hour walk a day would not suffice. You would need to spend longer hours walking in order to see some results.

You also have to take into account that an effective exercise should go together with a naturally healthy diet program unique to your requirements. If you are new at this exercise routine, a typical slip-up is usually to exercise and not check out your caloric intake. Thus, you actually eat more unhealthy calories compared with what you really require and struggle with extra weight gained simply by consuming such quantity of food. There truly is nothing wrong about this. However, bear in mind that as you increase the quantity of food you eat, you should also boost the intensity and strength of your workouts.

Fitness professionals often advise small, but frequent feeding if you don’t want to gain weight during and after your workout sessions. And, even if you follow this advice, you still need to strictly check your calorie intake every time you eat. Of course, it is just natural to feel hungry after a good workout. That’s where moderation and self-discipline will come in. Eat more protein food to make you feel full, and less on carbohydrates and fats.

Health issues also contribute either to your weight loss or weight gain. When your thyroid glands are overly active, your metabolism is also fast - and the result is weight loss despite efforts to gain weight. For under-active thyroids, you gain weight fast despite efforts to lose weight. Hormones are also thought of as culprits for weight gain. Thus, despite efforts to remove excess poundage, the results are still futile.

Understanding the real cause of your weight loss or weight gain problem will definitely help you choose the perfect exercise program to follow. But, first, consult with your doctor to rule out any medical-related problems prior to starting your fitness program. You would not want to make matters worse for your health condition, right?

Tibet is a plateau region in Asia

Tibet is a plateau region in Asia

Tibet is a plateau region in Asia, north of the Himalayas. It is home to the indigenous Tibetan people, and to some other ethnic groups such as Monpas and Lhobas, and is inhabited by considerable numbers of Han and Hui people. Tibet is the highest region on earth, with an average elevation of 4,900 metres (16,000 ft). It is sometimes referred to as the roof of the world.

During Tibet's history, it has existed as a region of separate sovereign areas, a single independent entity and as a vassal under Chinese suzerainty or sovereignty. Tibet was first unified under King SongtsÃĪn Gampo in the 7th century. At various times from the 1640s until the 1950s, a government nominally headed by the Dalai Lamas, a line of spiritual political leaders, ruled a large portion of the Tibetan region. During some of this period, the Tibetan administration was subordinate to the Qing Dynasty.

In the chaos in China following the Xinhai Revolution in 1913, the 13th Dalai Lama expelled Qing's representatives and troops from what is now the Tibet Autonomous Region and governed it autonomously.Neither the new Republic of China, nor any other foreign state or the United Nations recognized this as legal Tibetan independence. In 1950, the People's Republic of China, emerging victoriously from the Chinese Civil War, quelled the 14th Dalai Lama's army and successfully negotiated for an acknowledgment of Chinese sovereignty. Since what constitutes Tibet is a matter of much debate (see map, right), neither its size nor population are simple matters of fact, due to various entities claiming differing areas as part of "Tibet"

Easy Yoga Moves for Beginners: Basic Poses

Easy Yoga Moves for Beginners: Basic Poses

America’s taken to yoga like never before. Yoga has become the hottest thing today. There are countless people who have benefited from yoga. No wonder everyone right from Hollywood celebrities to judges, senators everyone has taken to yoga. The very principle of yoga is to look at the body inside out. It aims to create a union between the mind, body and soul. It aims to give a holistic view of the problems in the body. There are many who have claimed to have gained peace with oneself after practicing yoga.

However, it can be a daunting task for those looking to begin practice yoga. The funny names given to the different poses (or asana as they are called) help you to stretch and tone muscles while relaxing the mind and the body. With yoga, you tune your body to come out of the fight or flight response and respond by relaxing.

Easy Yoga Moves for Beginners

However this is not an easy task, especially when the mind, body and soul are trained to respond either by fight or flight. Yoga is more of surrender than struggle. For those learning the basics, here are a few moves for you to go through. Mind you these are just a brief description of the different moves and they should always be performed under the guidance of a yoga guru (master).

Basic yoga for beginners can be classified under different groups based on convenience. For those looking for relaxation, you could try the

    * Shava Asana (also called as the corpse position) – This pose, relaxes the mind and body. To perform this asana you need to lie in a supine position and keep both the legs apart from each other, similar to a corpse. This asana is very good t rejuvenate your mind.
    * Bal Asana (also called as child’s pose) – This asana derives its source from the way a child sleeps -carefree. It is ideal to take rest and relax your body.
    * Yoga Nidra (or conscious deep sleep) – This is an asana where you get to enjoy the benefits of deep sleep even when your mind is operating. It is extremely rejuvenating and manages to awaken your subconscious mind.

Yoga postures for meditation:

    * Padma Asana (Lotus Pose) – In this pose, the body takes the shape of a lotus, and is the ideal pose for meditation. However this could be a little difficult to beginners, and for those who are inflexible. But with practice, it is quite easy and effective.
    * Vajra Asana (or diamond pose) – Vajra also means thunderbolt in Sanskrit and effective practice of this asana is believed to make the body stronger and harder like the thunderbolt.
    * Sukh Asana (also called easy pose)-As the name says, such asana is mean to be comfortable and is the best pose that can be easily done by everybody.

Among asana’s that are practiced by standing are Kona Asana, Trikona asana and Tada asana.

Remember whatever the asana that you perform, they’re to be performed at least 3 hours after your meals. One or two hours before sunrise are the best time to perform yoga. These poses should be performed on the hard floor, with a yoga mat or rug for support.
