Communication is a wide term to use, don't you think? What does communication entail in a business scenario and what is the importance of communication in business organization? These, and some more issues of the same nature will be discussed and tackled in the following article. If you've been curious about the need and importance of business communication, then reading the following article will help.

Importance of Communication in Business World

What is the importance of communication skills in a business scenario? Let us go through a few key points that stress on the importance of communication in business management.

Convey Messages

Simply put, communication allows a process to take place. The sender sends a message through a medium. The receiver receives it, processes it and then gives a feedback which completes the communication process. Without this process, no two people could ever communicate effectively. There would be no information dispatched and hence no work done! That is the importance of communication in the workplace.

Clarity of Ideas

When one communicates with another in a business scenario, it is important to understand that the message has to be conveyed in such a way that there is complete clarity in what is being said. The message should be so clear that all doubts and vague and unclear thoughts will be dispelled. The communication process also allows for the person who has received the message to give a feedback and therefore the communication format achieves a 360 degree solution.

Get Work Done

It is only through the adaption of the varied communication processes like speech, body language, gestures and other feedback mediums that any work can be expected to get done. An instruction, for example, that is given by a boss to his subordinate needs to be carried through till the final stage of execution. If the process of communication and feedback is missing, an end result is never possible.

Avoid Misunderstandings

When two people work together, there is bound to be miscommunication at times, which can lead to misunderstandings and other problems in the workplace. Which naturally affects the work adversely and the business suffers. Communication offers a platform whereby all the misunderstandings can get cleared and one can hope for solutions. This is crucial if there has to be a success made of the plan.

Increase Productivity and Efficiency

When there is a proper communication process taking place then the productivity and efficiency of the employees increases. This is because the right information is dispelled and the correct action executed. Therefore there is no, or very less scope for mistakes to happen.

Employee Job Satisfaction

When there is scope for open communication at the work place. There is a clear path provided, whereby the seniors and subordinates can talk and solve workplace conflicts amongst themselves. If a surety is provided by the employers that open workplace communication will be given scope and it will be accepted in a healthy manner, then the problems and conflicts that a company faces will be dispelled and the productivity will increase, thereby increasing the profits as well. Along with that, the employees will have a scope for improvement in their work and duties. Every time they make a mistake or are unable to carry forth their duties effectively and they get a feedback and ways of improvement from their employers, they will begin to understand the pulse of the job and get better at it.

If you look at an overall picture of the business worlds then you will realize the importance of communication in business-no matter how big or small. The success and failure of any business truly depends on the modes of effective communication employed. If you have a business, you know what you need to do now.

Muscle Weakness from Statins – Side Effects from Long Term Use

Muscle Weakness from Statins – Side Effects from Long Term Use

The Statin Drugs:

If you’ve been diagnosed for cardio vascular diseases due to high cholesterol, you are most likely to have heard about Statin -a drug prescribed to lower cholesterol level in the blood. So what exactly is Statin, how does it work and most importantly what are its side effects?

Statin is a drug that lowers cholesterol in the body, by blocking its production. It reduces the production of LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) or the Bad cholesterol in your body, thus keeping heart related diseases at bay. In some cases it is found to reduce the size of the existing built up of cholesterol form your blood stream and vessels.

What are the side effects of statins?

As with any other drug, these too have their side effects. But the side effects as a result of taking Statins are more pronounced than the side effects through other drugs. Common side effects include muscle pain, weak or tender muscles with fever or flu like symptoms, stomach pain, heartburn, constipation and nausea. Statins are also believed to interfere with other drugs including vitamin, iron and mineral supplements. In fact even grape fruits and grape fruit juices are said to interact with Statins (with results that can be dangerous).

Out of the above mentioned side effects, muscle weakness is a common and serious side effect. About 1 in 100 patients are believed to suffer from myositis (the medical term for this problem). In some cases there could be a complete muscle breakdown, which could further cause problems like kidney failure.

Statins used in the long run are believed to cause severe liver problems as the medication is said to affect the liver enzymes. If you are on a medication for liver related problems and are prescribed Statins, make sure to inform your GP about it.

Research has also shown that long term use of Statin result in memory loss, sexual dysfunction and even irritability. Statins should also be not taken during pregnancy as they have been proved to cause birth defects. Although they reduce the LDL level in the body, they are ineffective on triglycerides, which is also a reason for heart diseases.

Statins are also said to reduce the level of CoEnyme Q10 (CoQ10). This is a very important enzyme that de stresses the cells and DNA in your organs, bones, skin, hair and eyes. A reduce in the level of CoQ10 can be very fatal to your organs.

In the Fortune 500 list of companies listed in 2002, the combined profit of the 10 drug companies listed was more than the combined profit of the remaining 490 companies. This is the profit that pharma companies derive from hapless patients like us. They play on our fear. There are a number of other cholesterol lowering ingredients that are proved to outperform Statins. What is known now to the general public would have been known to these pharma giants long ago, but they still promote Statin as the miracle medicine to curb cholesterol. It’s only now that manufacturers o Statin have started mentioning a warning sign that using these drugs could cause muscle pain and weakness.

How to Treat Sensitive Skin – Useful Tips

How to Treat Sensitive Skin – Useful Tips

If your skin does all or any of these in reaction to conventional skin products, then you may have sensitive skin – which in its own right is a skin type.

Sensitive skin has an increase in thinness and the blood vessels and nerve endings are much closer to the skin’s surface. It is usually described as very thin, fragile-looking, pink or flushed-coloured skin, but there is a great increase of women with oily, thicker skin who are reporting sensitivites. This may be due to an increase in environmental factors (i.e. pollution and harsh, synthetic skin care) and a poorer diet. There also may be other factors involved such as skin conditions such as dermatitis, eczema and rosacea.

    * When purchasing skin care products, many companies offer lotions, moisturizers, sun block and other skin care products that are specifically catered to sensitive skin. These will be more effective for your skin than the average product.

    * While it can be refreshing, and seem like the right thing to do, try to avoid washing your face too often, as it can strip your skin of its natural oils and nutrients that are healthy for your skin. Also, be sure to wash your face with lukewarm water – not too hot nor too cold.

    * Be careful of using exfoliants such as chemical peels, facial scrubs, etc., as they can lead to irritation on sensitive skin.

    * Watch your diet. It goes without saying. “You are what you eat.” If you want your skin to be its healthiest, you should steer clear of junk food, caffeine and alcohol.

    * When the seasons change, especially as it becomes winter, be sure to spend more time than normal on your skin, as the change in the temperature can disrupt the skin, dehydrating your skin and causing itchiness. Use moisturizer during these harsher times.

    * Don’t forget about the rest of your body – not just your face. Sensitive skin is not only specific to your face and neck, but can be a problem all over. Be educated before purchasing soaps, bath oils, shampoos and conditioners, etc., and your skin will thank you for it.

    * Stay away from products that contain scents and fragrances. The extra chemicals that produce this aroma, while nice-smelling, can really aggravate your sensitive skin.

    * When choosing a facial cleanser, look for one that is soap-free, as soap tends to deplete the skin of its natural oils. When using these products, be sure to rinse your face afterwards to remove any leftover residue.

    * If you are having breakouts on your face, select cleansers and moisturizers that have salicylic acid, which has proven to be beneficial in exfoliation of the pores and clears out harmful toxins and waste from your skin cells.

    * Exercise can have many benefits to the skin. For one, it causes you to sweat, which naturally clears out the pores of your skin and also enriches it with nutrients. Second, exercise is a good way to relieve stress, and stress has been shown to lead to skin breakouts, as it tears down your skin’s natural antioxidants that help fight wrinkles and other marks of aging.

The Venice Historical Regatta

Every year, on the first Sunday of September, the Historical Regatta is held in Venice. Hundreds of Venetians pile into the long boats that have plied the city's canals for centuries for the 'Regata Storica' (Historical Regatta), a historical procession that commemorates the welcome given to Caterina Cornaro, wife of the King of Cyprus, in 1489 after she renounced her throne in favour of Venice.

The spectacular historical water pageant is driven by gondoliers wearing historic costume carrying the Doge, the Doge’s wife and all the highest ranking Venetian officials up the Grand Canal in a brightly coloured parade. This is followed by four separate boat races. The winners are awarded flags in place of medals. Until few years ago, together with the symbolic prizes, there were also some kind of awards; the most famous of them was a little living pig, that would parade on a gondola of its own. The pig ceremony has been abolished since few years ago after protests by some animal protection organizations. PETA is always ruining the fun.
