Best Hair Removal Method For Eyebrows

Best Hair Removal Method For Eyebrows

Though many people shape their eyebrows by waxing or threading, the drawback is the wait between visits to the salon. It’s for this reason that most women tweeze their brows themselves. If you haven’t shaped your brows before, it’s a good idea to have a technician start you on the right path. A professional can wax your brow to give it a good shape, then you can maintain that shape by tweezing on your own. If this doesn’t appeal to you, electrolysis is a great way to eliminate the need to tweeze your brows (though this requires extra time and money).

Waxing eyebrows is very popular in designing brows because it’s fairly quick and can last weeks, but salon and spa prices can really add up. So if you’re looking to save some money, we’ll walk you through the steps of waxing your brows right at home.

Have Enough Hair

Eyebrow hair needs to be at least 1/4? long.

Decide On The Shape of Your Brows

Women can refer to this eyebrow shape step-by-step and men’s eyebrow grooming guide if you need help deciding on which hairs to take and leave.

Pull Or Pin Back Hair

You want to see your eyebrows clearly, and not get any wax in your hair.

Trim Eyebrows If Necessary

Brush your eyebrows straight up, and if there are any hairs longer coming out of your natural shape on top, then you need to trim. Use a fine-tooth regular comb or an eyebrow brush to push eyebrow hair up, and then just trim what is outside the shape with small scissors (preferably eyebrow scissors). If you have long or very bushy eyebrows, they may need more bulk removed, see the step-by-step to trimming brows.

Cleanse Eyebrow Area

Use pre-wax cleanser on eyebrows and surrounding skin, then apply a light dusting of powder with a cotton swab. Don’t over do it on the powder, more isn’t better.

Wax On

Apply wax evenly in the direction of hair growth using applicator (wooden stick) to the hair shaping the underneath of your brow. Be careful! You want enough wax to thoroughly cover hair, but not so thick that the wax seeps onto hair that you don’t want to remove.

Cover With Strip

Apply strip in the direction of hair growth, leaving some leftover strip at the end not attached to hair like a tab (say hair grows from left to right- leave leftover strip on right side). Press and firmly smooth hand over strip in the direction of hair growth a couple times, to ensure wax is attaching to hair and has slightly cooled.

Wax Off

Grasp onto the end of strip that isn’t attached to hair. Hold skin taut with one hand, and remove strip in opposite direction of hair growth in one quick pull, all the way to the other side. Don’t pull up, which might be your natural inclination. Press hand down on skin to help relieve some of the pain, after strip is removed. (Sounds silly, but it works!) If a little bit of wax with hair remains, simply put strip back on hair and pull off.

Repeat

Continue with steps 7-9 for the underneath of your other brow, the middle of your brows and on top of your brows (only to clean up stray hairs outside the shape).

Clean Up Missed Hairs

Use tweezers to remove any hairs missed by the wax, and fine-tune the shape.

Clean Wax Off Skin

Remove any remaining residue, with wax remover, baby oil or petroleum jelly.

Soothe Skin

Apply after-wax lotion, or an aloe based lotion or gel.

What You Need

* Wax warmer
* Cream wax
* Pre-wax cleanser
* Baby powder
* Muslin or pellon strips
* Wooden applicators
* Wax remover for the skin (or you can use baby oil or petroleum jelly)

Important Tips For Perfect Wedding Makeup

Important Tips For Perfect Wedding Makeup

You have met the man of your dreams, fallen in love with him and even got the marriage date fixed. And now, you are eagerly waiting for the day of your union, when the two of you would become each other’s, forever. In the meantime, you have started with the preparations, right from choosing the venue to selecting the bridal dress.

So you’ve got the guy, the dress, the flowers and chosen a hairstyle, but what about your make-up? Here are a few tips that will ensure you look picture perfect when walking down the isle to say ‘I-do’!

Perfect Wedding Make Up Tips

Beauty Regime Before The Big Day

    * Beauty Regime before the big day To get that glowing, fresh-faced look, there are a few things to consider a few weeks prior to your wedding day. A skin and nail care plan should be started about 6 weeks before the wedding. Talk to your beautician about having regular facials and manicures.
    * Don’t get too much sun before your wedding. Sunburns and peeling skin shouldn’t sabotage your wedding day. Consider Spray-on-tanning , a 100% natural way to achieve a tan. Ask Cristina about Golden Tropics Spray on Tan.

Body Mind Spirit

    * Don’t forget the importance of Body-Mind-Spirit. What’s going on inside is just as important to looking good. As you know preparing for a wedding is very stressful and if you are not looking after yourself by not getting enough sleep or not eating properly it will without a doubt show on your face!
    * If you are really stressed out consider having a relaxing massage once a week for a month and also a day before the wedding. Burn some relaxing essential oils around the house to help calm your nerves.
    * If you are having trouble sleeping try Valerian tea before going to bed, available from most health food shops.

Trial

    * When you have chosen a make up artist, organise a trial around 1-2 months before the wedding.
    * It is a good idea to have your bridesmaids with you to give their input and also advise what kind of look they want themselves.
    * Have pictures from magazines to show the make up artist various looks that appeal to you.
    * Mention if you have any skin problems or allergies etc or if there are any particular ways you wear your make-up.
    * If you are having a day – time wedding it is ideal to organise the trial during the day as this will give you a better idea as to how the make-up will look.

Have Pictures And Swatches Of Wedding Dress And Bridesmaid’s Dresses

    * Having pictures of the dresses will give the make-up artist a starting point for designing the perfect look for you and your bridesmaids.
    * Fabric swatches of the wedding dress and bridesmaid’s dresses and a description of the flowers will also help when choosing colours. The colors should compliment both the dress and the flowers.

What Look To Go With

    * The style you choose for your wedding make-up will ultimately depend on your personal preference, but there are some other factors to consider:
    * The time of the ceremony -is it a day or evening wedding? A lighter, more natural look is more suited to a day wedding and a more dramatic look is suited to an evening one.
    * What time of year is your wedding? If you are having a Spring/Summer wedding, go for bright, pastel colours. Warm, deeper shades will lend themselves well to a winter wedding.
    * Your skin tones and hair colour? There are two color palettes- warm or cool.
    * If you are Blond or fair skinned, cool tones of grey, blue, soft pink and lilac are ideal.
    * If you are brunette or olive skinned, warm neutral tones of brown, taupe, burgundy & red are more suited.
    * Remember your make up should be a little more dramatic than your everyday make-up as you can tend to look pale and wash-out in photos if your make-up doesn’t stand out.

Your Face

    * Foundations with yellow undertones work best with flash photography.
    * Keep away from shimmer highlighters as this look will not show up well in photos and give a reflective shine.
    * Use a light dusting of translucent powder to prevent any unwanted shine.
    * Ask your make-up artist to use a bronzing powder to warm your skin tone and give a natural glow. Place on areas where the sun would naturally hit e.g. Forehead, cheeks and bridge of nose.
    * Blush- use more than not enough.

Your Eyes

    * The eye-area should be soft and natural with no heavy, dark lines.
    * Keep away from up to the minute eyeshadows and make-up trends as you will regret it when you look at your photos in years to come!
    * Use a brow pencil slightly darker than your hair color and avoid heavy, dark shadows.

Your Lips

    * Use a lip-liner the same colour as your lipstick and avoid a noticeable or dark lip line.
    * The colour on your lips will depend on whether you are a warm or cool color palette.
    * It is more flattering to define one area i.e. If you want dark, defined eyes, go for a lighter lip shade and if you want dark/bright lips go for natural, light eyes.

Timing

    * Ask your make-up artist to arrive as early as possible and allow plenty of time to get the job done. The last thing you want is to be rushed on your wedding day.

Touch Up Tips

    * Ask your mum or one of your bridesmaids to carry a powder compact, tissues and lipstick for touch ups during the day.

Diamond Studded Pen Sold For Rs 2.3 m

A pen studded with thousands of dazzling diamonds was sold for 2.3 million rupees at an ongoing jewellery exhibition here over the weekend.The expensive pen is certified by the International Gemological Institute (IGI).
"The pen is made in white gold, with around 2,500 natural diamonds, all graded and certified. And also, we have a lining of yellow diamonds, natural fancy yellow diamonds. It has been made by six craftsmen and took around 18 months to make this essentially," said Mani Singh Deo, the organiser of the exhibition.
"The craftsmanship is very exquisite. As you see the pen, you will be able to know that it's a very unique piece and essentially we wanted to make a collector's item and I think we have been fairly successful in doing that," he added.
The exhibition showcased a wide variety of fine jewellery ranging crafted in diamonds and gold, ranging from daily to bridal wear.
Organisers credited their affordable pricing of jewellery as the reason behind the success of the exhibition.
The exhibition was flocked by large number of jewellery enthusiasts and shoppers.
"I think jewellery has got good response, people are interested but those are pieces that people don't buy on impulse. What people are definitely looking for are a trusted jeweler who would give them the kind of designs and the range that they require. We have everything from bridal jewellery to daily wear to 'Tanmanyas', black beads and all of it. People were very happy with the range," said Deo.
Customers were delighted with the shimmering pieces of jewellery and found the products to be matchless in quality and design.
"It's a very nice collection and specially designs. It's a very design oriented thing and there is quite a lot of variety. In each and every category you have a lot of pieces to choose from and a very nice range. The prices are very affordable," said Swathi, a jewellery shopper.
Other than jewellery of various kinds, home and lifestyle decorative artifacts in Porcelain from France and Spain were also displayed, which got a good response from visitors at the expo.
The exhibition will conclude on November 07.
